I was born in Charolette, NC but I lived in South Carolina until 5th grade, When my single-mother of two got a new job. We moved to the Chicago suburbs, I still live in the Chicagoland Area.
I sang in choir and started writing songs in 6th grade. Music has been a big part of my life and song writing has always been my favorite way to tell a story.
My songs are pictures of my life and the lives of others around me. Something that kind of occurs naturally, I like to sit in my studio with my guitar and play old songs I've forgotten I've even written.
Some singers try to entertain people. Others, however, want to express themselves and share something more meaningful with the audience. This is certainly the case of Ann Valentine, a passionate singer with a unique approach to her music.
Her style could be characterized as a particular blend of Neo-soul, with a twist of electronic music, R&B and pop.
The result is a style that feels very genuine and personal, yet diverse and eclectic, going for a truly special vibe.
Inspired by performers the likes of
Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera and Jill Scott, Ann is all about dynamically suggestive vocals, with a lot of emotion and feeling.
Her recent album release, “Becoming Ann Valentine” is an exciting example of her talent, and she has toiled tirelessly in order to create quality songs that connect with the listeners on a deeper level. The album features thought-provoking songs about personal self-affirmation and identity, and it marks a huge step forward for Ann, as she decided to go all out and embrace her passion in life fully, pursuing her hopes and dreams without ever looking back!
